Woad

Meet Woad. She is a rescue from the Humane Society and the best side kick anyone could ask for.  She does attend many lessons with me and loves hanging out with the students.  Sometimes she is "the" multisensory surface for practicing the deck or sometimes the reading buddy! We get many questions as to where we got her name. She was named after a spirit day at school when my son had painted his face with a "highlander woad." Essentially half of his face was painted blue.  When we met her at the shelter, Gabe said "she has a woad like I did."

Woad it is.

History of woad has a fun story

In short, Woad is a flowering plant in which the leaves are used to create a blue dye used in many areas of the world.
